Meara's Story:

We met at Craig Hospital by mere coincidence. Colby arrived at Craig just before my mom's surgery. My whole family and I were all having dinner in the main room, when out of nowhere Colby appeared...just in time for dessert. I turned around and saw him, and being the kind person that I am, offered him a piece of cake. Even though he did get all the good fruit off of the cake, we allowed him to stick around for the evening.

Well, needless to say, he hit it off with the whole entire family. Every time I turned around, there was his cute bald head sitting with one/or all of the family. Eventually, the entire family left...and still, every time I turned around, I saw his cute bald head.

After being around him that whole week, I knew there was something about him that I couldn't ignore. And Colby, well...it's a good thing he couldn't ignore the cake.

Colby's Story: Yes the cake was great, However...

The first time I saw Meara I was passing by the room where her entire family was enjoying some time with Nan. When I went by I caught a glimpse of Meara and thought "I just have to meet her" So, now the question was how I do it. The room had computers for checking email etc. and so of course that became top priority. There was also a big screen TV in the room with a Basketball game on. Being the "huge" sports fan that I am I just had to watch the game. I was only there for a few seconds before Meara turned around and started offering enchiladas and cake. That is how it all started...

The rest of that week was spent constantly hoping I would run into her just so I could see her beautiful smile again. I knew right away that there was something very special about Meara and I could not get her off my mind. The night before I was to return home I decided that I had to take the chance and call her to ask her for one more moment together. To my surprise she returned my call and said she would love to meet for breakfast!

Meeting Meara was probably the furthest thing from my mind when I started on my trip to Craig Hospital but, was by far the best thing that I got!!
